From Couchy Lardland....

.... to a magical world where I can actually manage to run for 30 minutes straight?

No. Way.

I actually managed to stick with the From Couch to 5k plan. Last week was my last on the schedule. Wooh. And I am so proud of myself. It was hard, but so worth it. I never thought it my wildest and craziest dreams I'd be able to run for more than a minute and so, now it totally rocks that I can actually manage to run for 30 MINUTES!

Did you catch that? Yeah. That's right. 30 minutes!

Now, supposedly, I was supposed to be able to run 3 miles by the end of this?  And, well, let's just say in 30 minutes I cannot quite obtain that distance. But my next goal is to increase my speed. I'm still running three times a week and each time I increase how fast I'm going on the treadmill.

At first, my handsome cowboy and I were doing this together which was super fun, but then he got busy with work (fires and overtime) and it got too hard.  So, I started running after the kids went to bed on the treadmill which has cut into my writing time a bit, but it's worth it.  And it also enables me to sweat like a pig and contort my face in pain and misery without an audience. Except for my kids. "Shoo! Find something else to watch!"

And do you want to know the weirdest part?

I used to hate it.  Just HATE it.  We'd have to run for one or two minutes and I'd keep asking Ryan, "*puff*puff*.....how....much....longer...blech?"

And now, I can not only run that long....

But I actually like it!

I don't forsee myself being up to actually running a 5k anytime soon.  I think I need a lot more work, but maybe next spring I'll give it a go.  Who knows? Maybe I'll even like that, too. I just might be crazy enough.

  1. That's awesome, Erin! I've tried running a few times, and by "tried" I mean for a few blocks...anyway, I do not enjoying running, so it's good to see that your hard work has paid off and turned into something you now enjoy. Way to go! :)

  2. Yay, way to go. Now don't do what I have done and let it slide now you've reached the goal. Sign up for a 5k run. It's great to keep the motivation going
