Mmmmm! Mmmm! BBQ!

Our awesome friends, Scott and Heather Allen have opened a new restuarant here in Cedar City.  And for those of you who don't live here...Wow.  You're missing out. Big Time.

It was a full house.

We were thrilled to be invited to the soft opening...for those of you who don't know (because I sure didn't)...a soft opening is like a big party by invitation only where they feed tons of friends and family and anyone and everyone else they want to invite before the restuarant is actually open.  Brilliant way to get the word out, right?

Molly seems to be enjoying the line with her
her cute daddy.
So, we left our oldest in charge of the monkeys, except for our
wee Molly who got to go along and enjoy some barbeque (Ok.
Not really. I didn't share with her at all.)

And...did I say Wow, yet?

This picture doesn't do the line justice.
When we walked through the front door
we only got about two feet before we
found the back of the line!

When we got there the place was super packed. We jumped in line and chatted and visited with friends. I had no clue what to order.  Everything looked so amazing! Scott suggested The Sampler Plate or The King Sandwich which is a pulled pork (I think...or maybe brisket? I can't remember) coleslaw sandwich. We loved the idea of trying a bunch of different things though so Ryan and I ended up getting two sampler plates with beef brisket, pulled pork and rotisserie chicken.  Then we got to pick a couple sides. I got hush puppies (I have an undying love for hush puppies.), coleslaw and since Heather turned around and said we could have another side....(yay! I'm very indecisive)...I also got some Coleslaw.  Ryan snagged their mashed potatoes and Fried Cauliflower.

And...

Oh. Wow.

I am not a fan of cauliflower. I mean, I've always thought it was a pretty useless vegetable. I don't even like it dripping in melted velveeta. But. Now I know what cauliflower is for. Now I see. It's for plunking into batter and deep-frying at Sonny Boy's BBQ. Yep. It was amazing.  I mean, really really good. Just Wow. (am I overusing that word?)

The food was all delish. The barbeque sauce was addictive. The pulled pork was Ryan's favorite. I really enjoyed that, too. And I'm not a big red meat-eater, but I could have devoured a LOT more of it. The coleslaw was Yum. But my favorite by far was...well, I can't choose just one.  Hmmmm....it's a tie between the hush puppies and fried cauliflower.

Sonny Boy's BBQ officially opened on the 22nd. If you are in southern Utah then you have got to zip on over and check them out!  You will not be disappointed. They are located next to Galdalfo's (sp?!) near Lin's and the Great Harvest bread store. Hurry up and go already! Because I have one word to sum it all up. I bet you can guess it...

Wow.

(I thought about faking you out and typing something like Platypus. Or Rutabaga. Or even Snuffalufagus.  But...hmmm...I figured I'd be a bit more mature.  Yes, I know. Rare.)
